Essential DVD's is a South Australian based DVD retailing website that was launched in March 2009. With the goal of becoming the largest South Australian internet based DVD retailer, Essential DVD's guarantees to provide the utmost level of customer satisfaction through the provision of a safe, secure, pleasant and hassle-free DVD online-shopping experience at extremely competitive prices.

As a valued customer to Essential DVD's, you have our guarentee that all items sold on this website are brand new, factory sealed and largely region 4 (Australian Region) DVD's. Occasionally we stock brand new unsealed DVD's, but this will always be advertised in the specific DVD's description. Some rare, hard to find titles are only available in region 1 format (USA), therefore we have displayed each and every DVD titles region coding on the main description page for each DVD. No bootlegs, burnt copies, or Asian DVD9 DVD's are or ever will be sold here.

Don't be disappointed if you cannot find the title you are looking for, as nearly every title imaginable is available, and it may simply be a matter of ordering it in for you. See the top toolbar on the homepage for how to put in specific requests via the 'Request A Title' option. Shopping here is made easy, with the DVD's delivered to your door within 7 working days.
Privacy Policy
Essential DVD's have competent security measures and procedures to ensure the personal details of our customers remains secure. Under no circumstances will we divulge any customer's personal details obtained via the Essential DVD's website to any third party. Essential DVD's will be required to obtain personal information including full name, address, postal address, phone number, and email address for delivery and newsletter purposes only. All payment details including paypal and bank account details will remain personal and secure. Any questions, feel free to use the contact us section to receive more information.
Searching the website
Use our Search Function on the top left of every page to search for specific DVD titles that interest you. Or simply browse the pages of DVD's by category at your own leisure. Remember, if the title you are looking for isn't available, or sold out, simply ask us! More than likely we can order it in for you at a very competitive price.
Making A Purchase
When you have selected the item you wish to purchase, simply click on 'Add to Shopping Basket' and the item will be placed into your shopping basket. You have the ability to add or delete products from your shopping basket before completing your purchase should you need to. To delete an item from your basket, ensure that the item's check box has been ticked and click the 'Delete Checked' button.
When you are ready to place your order, simply click the 'Confirm Order' button on the Shopping Basket page to begin the ordering process. After you have reviewed your delivery details, click on "Place Your Order".
Ordering by PayPal
Essential DVD's accepts orders via PayPal. To place an order using your PayPal account, simply select payment option as PayPal when prompted during the ordering process. During the checkout process you will be redirected to PayPal, where you will be prompted to sign in and finalize your order. Essential DVD's will then contact you once your order has been shipped out to you.
Confidentiality
All personal information is treated in the strictest and most confidential manner. Essential DVD's will not sell or give out your name, e-mail, address or any other personal information. All orders are handled without compromise to your privacy.
Essential DVD's Returns Policy
We are happy to refund or exchange any unopened DVD's within 14 days, provided that they are in immaculate condition. Essential DVD's must approve of returns beforehand, and all postage costs for returns and re-shippment will be incurred by the customer. Damaged items will not be accepted and will be returned to the customer. Be sure to use the Contact Us section to advise us of the problem at hand, and we will promptly reply with instructions on what to do next.
Essential DVD's will not refund or credit any DVD's purchased for the incorrect format DVD player. Please ensure that if you are ordering HD-DVD's, you have a HD-DVD Player, and if you are ordering a Bluray DVD, you have a Bluray Player. There is more information on DVD formats further down this page.
Faulty discs will be refunded upon inspection by Essential DVD's staff. If the disc is faulty, then a replacement will be shipped out free of charge. On the occasion that a replacement DVD isnt available, a refund or store credit will be issued.
Order Cancellations
Orders may be canceled only before notification of shipment has been sent. After that, the order is on its way. There will be a minimum 48 hour window between when the order is paid for until the order is processed and posted to allow for stock to be pulled, packed and shipped.

DVD Region Codes
Australian customers - this section is for information purposes to assist with region coding. Only a select few titles (which are unavailable as region 4) are region 1 coded. This information is displayed on each DVDs individual detailed description page.
International customers - please refer to your DVD manual to ensure any DVD's purchased here are playable in your DVD player.
Region 0 - Informal term meaning "worldwide". Discs that bear the region 0 symbol either have no region coding or have region 1–6 coding.
Region 1 - Canada, United States, Bermuda.
Region 2 - Western and Central Europe, Western Asia, Egypt, Japan, South Africa, Swaziland, United Kingdom, Turkey, French overseas territories.
Region 3 - Southeast Asia, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong.
Region 4 - Australia, New Zealand, Oceania, Central and South America, Caribbean, Mexico.
Region 5 - Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Africa, Central and South Asia, Mongolia, North Korea.
Region 6 - China.
Region 7 - Reserved for future use.
Region 8 - International venues such as aircraft, cruise ships, etc.
Region ALL - Region ALL discs have all 8 flags set, allowing the disc to be played in any locale on any player.
If you are unsure of what regions your DVD Player is capable of playing, refer to your DVD Players instruction manual, or do a web search on the model of DVD Player you own. Nowdays, most DVD players are multi-regioned, and all Australian purchased DVD Players will play Region 4 DVD's.

High Definition DVD and Blu-ray DVD definitions
HD-DVD's (High Definition DVD) and Blu-ray DVD's are several technologies that are seen as successors to the standard DVD. Both offer a greater quality of viewing due to their capabilities of holding a larger amount of data compared to standard DVD discs. They also both require their own specific format DVD Players. HD-DVD's require a HD-DVD Player to play the discs just as Bluray discs wont play in any DVD Player apart from a Bluray Player. So be sure to purchase the correct format DVD for your DVD Player type.
